What Does Sponsoring GEAR Look Like?
GEAR is a collective of students at Michigan Technological University. We are ready to take on your technical-based design and analysis problems including Thermal, Biomechanics, Materials, Prototype, Load/Force Analysis, Product 3D/2D CAD Design, and additional services.

Active Projects
Avalanche Rescue Beacon (2015-Present) - Working beacon has been fabricated. Currently working to understand beacon to beacon communication and then will be fabricating a shell to test outdoors with.
Base Camp Water Filter System (2015-Present) - On it's third prototype, testing our current batch of UV LEDS with Keweenaw water from various waterfalls.
Four Season Hammock (2017-Present) - This hammock is designed to be able to be stowed away and also usable year-round.. In the finishing stages of a working prototype.
Longboard (2017-Present) - Currently creating a working prototype of the longboard wheel and bearing.
Multi-Purpose Roof Basket (2018-Present) - Creating a better solution to current roof storage solutions. In the early stages of development and research.
Backpack (2018-Present) - Currently in the very beginning stages of conceptualization.

Michigan Technological University The Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP) is part of Michigan Technological University which is located in Houghton on the Keweenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. As a prime location for outdoor adventures, such as kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, and climbing, the OAP strives to get students, faculty, staff, and community members outside and active! We help connect students to the outdoors through guided trips, leadership training, information sessions, equipment rental, and by working closely with student organizations to help advertise and program events.
