Project Manager, Paddle Team
Noah was a Mechanical Engineering student at Michigan Tech. He is a Resident Assistant on campus and enjoys road biking, mountain biking, rock climbing, snowboarding, and backpacking. Noah spent most of this past summer riding his bike across the United States with a nonprofit called Bike & Build. He also has a passion for woodworking and plenty of hands on fabrication experience.
Tim Spehar III
Project Manager, All Teams
Tim was a Engineering Management student, with a German language minor. He is an active member in ASEM, the professional society for engineering management. In his free time, Tim enjoys exploring the Keweenaw, skiing, hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, as well as riding his mountain and road bikes. Tim is a CAT5 crit racer, as well as an enduro mountain bike racer. He is an experienced mechanic, and thoroughly enjoys solving mechanical issues with others' bikes as well as "dialing" his own.
Evan was a mechanical engineering student with industry experience concentrated in product design. Through work experience and course work he has developed strong 3d modeling skills with design and manufacturing intent. In his free time, Evan enjoys anything from fishing and backpacking to skiing and snowboarding. G.E.A.R. Enterprise is a chance for him to develop, apply and stretch his engineering knowledge in the action sports field.
Sophia was a computer science major. She runs for the cross country and track teams at MTU and in her free time she likes to mountain and road bike, nordic and downhill ski and this summer she finished her first triathlon!
Neil was a Mechanical Engineering student pursuing a career in outdoor gear design, with past experience in 3D modeling, fabrication, and rapid prototyping. He works at Down Wind Sports and enjoys backpacking, winter camping, cross-country and alpine skiing, lake surfing, sampling craft beer, and mountain biking.
